Batteries Not Included: 4 Toys that will Keep Your Child Entertained for Hours

Toys nowadays often need a ton of batteries to keep them going and oftentimes they can be truly stress inducing to you as the parent as the loud blaring noises go on and on and on. This is why toys that run on good old fashioned “human power” are needed every now and then to keep you as the parent sane and free from ringing ears. Fun toys without battery power are a great way to keep your child entertained, but still allow your home to stay quiet-ish for a few hours of respite. So what kinds of battery-free toys are there out there? Well the sky’s the limit really, but below you will find a list of 4 toys that are fun, popular and blessedly battery-free.

1.    Angry Birds Card Game – Based on the ever popular “Angry Birds” phone app, this card game is a great battery-free choice for your children and will keep them entertained for hours as they try to win against opponents. This is also a good way to get your kids away from TV and video games and get them engaging with other children. The card game is meant for children over 3 years of age because of a few small game pieces such as dice.

2.    Legos – Legos are another wonderful battery-free option for a children’s toy as your child will not only be playing with a sound free Marble run toy, but learning about educational concepts like building and construction fundamentals that can help them later on in life. Most legos (except of the ones built intentionally large for younger children) are small, so they are meant for children general older than about 3 years old.

3.    Perplexus – The perplexus is a 3-D clear plastic sphere comprised of a maze/puzzle game within. Kids can spend hours trying to work the small steel ball through the maze to the finish line by twisting and turning the sphere to move the steel ball. It is a great way to get a child engaged and working out complex puzzles, something which is a great learning experience that won’t feel as if it’s a learning experience. The perplexus comes in a variety of styles and games so that your child will have a large selection of battery-free toy options to choose from. Perplexus’ parts are contained within a plastic sphere; however they have small parts that if the sphere is broken can be ingested, so it is meant for children over 3 years of age.

4.    Marble Runs – Marble runs are something every kid can get excited about as they set the run up and enjoy hours of fun. Many marble runs are changeable, so that your child can make the run as complex or simple as they want, giving them hours and hours of entertainment all without a single battery in sight. Marble runs have many small parts, so they are meant for children over 3 years of age.
